What can I say…I have a bike fetish! I once dated a girl and her dad shopped at the bike shop I worked as a pro-bike mechanic. He had a bike fetish (among many other fetishes I can’t mention here) and we often made fun of him. But here I am…I have a bike fetish. But it’s not my fault…really!

 The Early Years

I started riding right after I turned 3 and I started racing BMX by the age of 5. At first I had crappy, mostly garbage picked, bikes and won on a regular basis. Then my dad wanted to get me a better bike…so I got a Race Incorporated aluminum BMX frame, one of the only aluminum BMX frames in the late 70’s and early 80’s. Then he wanted to get the “best” for me…a Hutch! The bikes didn’t make a difference…I still won all the time. What’s funny was the Race Incorporated was a better bike even though the Hutch was the bike to have…but the seed was planted in my head, that I had to get better bikes all the time!

 The Teen Years

Then I “grew” up and wanted a skinny tire bike. So I got a 1988 Trek 400 road bike (The Chameleon). The 1988 Trek 400 then led to a 1993 Trek 2200 road bike, which then led to both a 1993 Trek 7000 mountain bike (Stiffy) and a 1993 Cannondale R900 road bike (Silver Streak). I primarily raced criteriums and an occasional road race. The mountain bike was just for kicking around on with my friends.

 The Adult Years

Of course it did not end there and I have continued to collect bikes and upgrade bikes. I have since gone back to my roots…BMX racing. That’s were my 2006 Fetish Cycles Sin 24, Carnal Sins, comes in.
I have not given up the road bikes or the mountain bikes…just added BMX racing back into the repertoire. In fact I’m looking to add cyclocross to that list also. In addition, I have two children that have begun racing BMX also, whom I hope the pass my passion for bikes down to. Check out my daughter’s (BeanieBaby) fetish and my son’s (MonkeyBoy) fetish.

At least it is a healthy fetish…unlike fetishes that involve high heels and stockings…wait that’s one of my other fetishes! I’m messed up!
