I got the fork in the mail at 11am this morning. It was ready to go by 1. I took my first long ride today. Got real muddy and got a feel for the bike. It was really great.

I took this from a May 3rd, 2004 blog entry. It seems fitting:

……………..

“My white water rafting trip was cancelled this weekend due to Class 4 rapids. Half of our crew was “Mrs. I have never paddled anything before” so it was impossible to go without fear of loosing someone.

……………..

Instead, Judd and Jacqueline took me mountain biking. The first trail we went on was the TNT trail. The bikers around here say that it is the hardest uphill biking climb in the Midwest. They are not kidding.

……………..

It goes straight up the bluff for what must be a mile. It was hell. Judd lent me his ultra-light racing bike(22lbs.), but it was still the hardest workout I have ever had.

……………..

Once we made it to the top we went on the backtrails. This was hard but much better. You got to go down every now and then. I was still lagging behind, as I was still winded from the first hill. Then came the switchbacks. I thought those were only out west!

……………..

The best part was when we went down this really long trail. There is nothing as scary as going 30 miles per hour over rocks and roots on a trail no wider than your foot with trees 6 inches away from your handlebars. It was terrifying. I loved it.

……………..

3 hours later, I could barely hold onto the handlebars anymore. I was so wasted, I can’t even tell you. I was also very hungry. I ate a 2,500 calorie meal(Blimpies wrap, 10 oz. bag of cheddar pretzels, lemonade, pint of New York Super Chunk Fudge ice cream, half gallon of water) and went to bed.

……………..

Maybe next time I will just go hiking with Lyzard. "

How wrong would this be? I want to keep this bike close to spec, but 130mm travel forks are much easier to find. What’s your opinion?
