1 1/8 inch and depending on the length of your steerer tube on your fork. The stack height is set by either spacers or the headset iteslf.

The Cane Creek ZS's come in 3 sizes: 1 in. short, 11/8 in. tall, and 11/8 in. short. Is there any specific one that the D&S needs?

I am using a WTB Innerpeace. Little known zero-stack headset. So far so good.. no problem after two seasons.

I am really happy with the cane creek ZS9 I got from Blueskycycling.com. The top cap sucks, but for 40 bones you get 36 deg. angular contact cartrige bearings and water seals. You could buy a top cap from these guys and finish that whole carbon fiber look thing..
