The frame is pretty rare, but it's great! The geometry was designed with 80mm of travel and rim brakes in mind, but the 2cm difference from the 100mm setting doesn't make a significant enough difference for me to say anything bad about it. And yes, compared to the technology from 7-10 years ago, the modern forks are definitely an improvement - I still love the old school forks, but the new fork just eats up all the small stuff as if it isn't there and is super plush with the bigger stuff, as well as being infinitely adjustable. I'd try and build it up with the nicest parts you can have or can find.
