Anyone know of a good geared 29er? Im not ready for the single speed yet. And are there advantages to a 29er? Does Fetish have a geared 29er? Im thinking about selling my Specialized and Voodoo and trying to buy a 29er. And anyone in the PHX area, is Mormon National easier with a 29er?
Thanks

Thanks. Me being 12 is kinda the reason i dont want to go SS, i might do rigid, but i dont think im ready for SS, and id probably get killed in the races on a SS. I am not going FS though, im too used to Hardtail, still deciding, oh, anyone want to buy a Specialized or Voodoo?

Most 29ers come geary as an option unless the drops are horizonal. In fact that is the reason I went with the Qball frame, because I wanted to start out SS but always have the option to go geary. But why not go SS? Heck, you are in Arizona. Back here in New England, SS, is a rite of passion. If you can ride SS in New England (just like skiing) you can ride SS anywhere! SS and Rigid are the only way to ride!
As to the benefits of a 29er, the primary one being more tire surface in contact with the ground which means better roll over. I ride some really gnarly single track in a state forest by my house and the 29er rolls most the stuff pretty well. Heck, if I had suspension, I am not sure I'd feel a single bump.
Go take one for a test drive! There are so many to choose from. Of course, you could also take a Fixation or DS Frame, slap a white brothers or Reba up front, of go rigid, and ride a 69er, which is what I am doing on my other bike. The difference between the 29er and 69er I find is that with the 69er, I have better power because the smaller rear wheel turns more than the 29er wheel, and therefore the bike climbs better. The 29er wheel upfront rolls obstacles better and that is why I think it climbs better. Both my 29er and 69er weigh the same so weight is not any issue.
