Ouch! Was that a stupid trail to ride. Some friends of mine decided we would do a neat ride in the 7 springs area in far north Carefree area (North of Scottsdale, AZ) I’ve done trail #4 several times and it’s a short fun out and back tail along the river, during summer its great cause you can jump in a big swimming hole and play but last Saturday we decided to try a trail that started off of #4 (Trail #246)and would do a clockwise loop around the mountains and back towards the other side of trail #4. What a shit hike a bike trail that was, I would say 75% walking on steep nasty trails that even trials riders would walk. We finaly reached the very top where it begins to decend to trail 4, that was great. 1 1/2 foot trail along a cliff that if you fell you would hope a saguaro cactus would stop you, I rode all of it only dabbing my foot on a couple of tight switchbacks,one other rode most of it and the rest walked almost all of it. That was the high light of the ride for me but I will never do that trail again. we rode a total of 11 miles and it took us over 4 hours to do it. THATS CRAZY MAN. next time I head out that way I plan on trying trail # 247, it’s twice as long but I hear it might be easier. see ya on the trail.
