Need advice on selling my Position..
Posted by TheRobbStory on June 23, 2006

Looking for a little help here..

Desperate times are calling for desperate measures. I got a big sob story about how my landlord is a dick and I have to move out by the 1st. I don’t want to bore you, though.

It’s come down to me thinking about selling my bike, a 2005 Fetish Position track bike. A rough mental calculation tells me I’ve got about $1200 invested in it. Should I try to sell it outright and ask more than that? eBay it? Part it out?

This is my first time selling a bike. I hate to see it go, as it took nearly 6 months to gather parts. I assembled it myself, too.

Here’s the bike: http://ridefetish.com/bike/show/210

What would you do?

Your bike is definitely sweet... and your landlord is probably going to continue to be an ass if you stick around, so maybe you could do a short term summer sublet while you look for a new place. do everything you can to keep the bike!

I sold my 2003 Specialized Epic for rent... and 2 years later this site was born from buying a D&S to replace it.

Anything else you could sell instead?

sell your body instead? Shit, I've definately sold almost everything I owned at one point or another cause I'm poor as hell, but a bike is a sacred thing.... but if you must sell, strip it and sell the parts individually on ebay - you'll get more $ that way.

Piece it out. You'll have trouble selling it complete for more than half of what it cost you. While the frame is tits it doesn't have name recognition and won't move on eBay for what it deserves.

That's going to be a tough one. You may get 50% or lower on resale... depending on what channels you use. I know one guy on here picked up a fully built Position for about $400 on eBay which was a steal. I would suggest trying Craigslist for your area and eBay -- but don't let it go for cheap. Maybe try flyers at bike shops... I'm not sure how much time you have. Try selling your soul instead, it can't be ridden.
