need more JEEP ROAD
Posted by wesley124 on May 10, 2009

I’ve got half my stuff in boxes and I’ll be moving out to CT in a little over a week. I’ve read about the trails out there from the CT guys here. Past six months has been rough, this last job kicked my ass. thoroughly. rode seldom and saw sunlight even less, and am now officially a fat bastard, by my standards at least (which are low). got to get it together if i am going to ride with the brothers Roth, especially on the trails they have been writing about, which sound great and awesomely dissimilar to the one we all met up on; I’ve only ridden in CT once, and I know the JEEP ROAD can only get better than that. granted, in the off times we were not stationary that day, i wasn’t tearing the place up or anything. got a good feeling this is going to be a good summer though. want to get faster, stronger, improve my skills, slim down, and spend time outside. hoping CT proves to be as good a place to do all those things as I antipate it to be; truck leaves on the 26th. road riding looks promising from the last trip made out there. hoping it’ll get me more ready for the trail. did I say trail, meant to say JEEP ROAD! need more JEEP ROAD!

Norwich ... Bluff Point State Park is great. Nachaug State Forest is another gem, and Adam's right I know nothing about anything east of the River. In fact, for all I know everything east of the River is just like Coventry. I am on the fence about what heat to ride in at Wompy. The CAT3 race doesn't seem like enough miles and the SS Open sounds like a bitch!

DD knows nothing about riding east of the river! The best trails are over here... and nobody on CT mountain bike forums has any clue. I'm sure he can show you around Mianus if you'd really like. That's what they ride in Western CT. (That race will be 25 miles I think... probably lots of JEEPROAD. The golden bike is the same as mine... just in gold and the 2009 model. You can choose Marathon or Zaskar, but you don't get to keep it if you win. GT will fly you to Vegas for Interbike and give you another model, but they keep the gold.)

just looked up that race, landmine, and the gt bike series. the golden bike looks sweet, exactly like adam's but slightly more tricked out. looks like a cool event though, especially since it's the last of the season.

Mark, we're moving to Norwich. Without abbreviating and using all the nicknames for things, maybe you can make some suggestions on places to ride? thanks, dan

Landmine Classic is at Wompy this year, aka Wompatuck. Don't chuse know nuttin? Family obligations have me tied up most of the middle part of the race season but I hope to get back in the game later. I'd like to do that 20 miler but when? Wesley, where are you going to be living?

And mianus gets hit so hard over and over that it's not just a matter of needing time to recover but fewer people riding it.

Hold that thought.. NEMBA was all up in mianus last weekend and they said it was real sloppy from overuse. We'll wait until it heals.

WTF is Wompy? I'm doing all the Rt66 events and then maybe some longer ones later in the season like the Vermont 50.

Hey, I got a new Roller on the Upper Gussy for you that smooth as buttah and I know Eric is just squealing to try it. Now, if you want a matrix of 40 plus miles of unimproved roads to ride a crosser on, you need to come down my way and check out the Tour de Roxbury. But wait, aren't you going to be living near East Butt Fock, oops I mean Hampton? Better make sure you either have plenty of SynLube or you have some steel mesh shorts on. Speaking of Racing, there are a few coming up -- anyone going to ride Wompy?

We ride as much as possible, both mountain and road. I've been racing a couple times a month, too. Shop road rides on Tuesdays. Looking forward to having another rider in the area.

We did a 17.6 mile ride with 7300 ft of climbing on Saturday. Central CT is MTB flavor country.
