Three weeks ago I got to ride some top of the line 32mm, 36mm, and 40mm forks that my friend has on his bikes and I was sold. Technology has come a long way in the past eight to ten years – speaking of which, I have two forks from that era for sale, a 98 RS Judy XC and a 99 Answer Manitou SX ti (it might be a 00)...yes, that one with the titanium springs and tons of notoriety.

The frame is pretty rare, but it's great! The geometry was designed with 80mm of travel and rim brakes in mind, but the 2cm difference from the 100mm setting doesn't make a significant enough difference for me to say anything bad about it. And yes, compared to the technology from 7-10 years ago, the modern forks are definitely an improvement - I still love the old school forks, but the new fork just eats up all the small stuff as if it isn't there and is super plush with the bigger stuff, as well as being infinitely adjustable. I'd try and build it up with the nicest parts you can have or can find.

Hey, love the CSX. I just got an identical CSX frame (same color and everything) on eBay. How is that modern fork working out for you? I've read so many conflicting reports regarding the CSX's behavior when mated to modern componentry that I just have to know before I bother building up this frame.

Thanks, yes it has the pop-lock function and i can't wait to try it. I would have whole heartedly agreed with you a month ago about them all being the same since I'm an old fork guy myself, but two weekends ago it was like a full blown front suspension epiphany and all I could think about was what it would be like to have one of the fancy forks on one of my bikes, he had the 140 RL on his fully loaded Ibis Mojo and when i tried it out it just ate everything up on the trail and made you feel more comfortable about handling just about everything that was out there (we were riding the jeep road, deep south dirrty jersey) - but seriously, ever fork of his that i tried was insane, just plain awesome, just like your new fork on your new gt marathon. when is your trip out here?

Wesley, all the same, I've _never_ ridden a modern fork. 96 Judy XC, 96 Judy SL, and a ~2001 Manitou Black (which never had enough air in it). I'm looking forward to riding the new Fox (120 RL). Your Reba looks sweet -- I like the carbon brace. Does it come with the pop-lock?

update, i was wrong about the travel adjustments for the fox, i just read that the fox 100mm rlc can also be set to 80mm - but that wouldn't of helped me with the brake bosses - or the fact that i hadn't made up my mind to actually make the fork upgrade until after your auction was over. this is the fork your brother wanted since we all know he loves RS so much - i feel kind of bad for him that he had to settle for that fox fork of his

I know, I was thinking about writing you about buying your fork after trying all of my friends fancy Fox and RS forks but the CSX geometry requires an 80mm fork and your Fox didn't have the bosses I need. the 09 RS SIDs alll have 32mm stanchions now I heard, but this is an 08 RS REBA World Cup.
