About

8/27/07 Updated with some new parts and changed the name after tonights ride. Added a front brake (in case the chain breaks or something (brakeless fixed riding off of the track is just a little too nervous for me lately). I chopped the bars down to a more reasonable size, and threw a fender and a topeak rack and bag on there. This bike is so quiet and smooth, I love riding it. When I got it, I thought it would be a bike I could lock up anywhere and not worry about it, but now after riding it so much, I would be really pissed to lose it, and will treat it like my other bikes as far as being careful with it. Funny how even a “beater” can be a favorite bike sometimes….

A friend came across this and traded it to me for next to nothing. Somebody converted it to a fixed gear some time ago and really took some time to do it right. Full shimano 105 stuff, completely repainted and detailed around the lugs (you can tell it was painted as part of the conversion because it has no marks where a front derailer would have been). It has been used heavily over the years and it shows. Definately carried around a heavy chunk of chain over the frame. Anyway I stripped off the brakes and the drop bars, and put some new tires, an old flat bar, and a new saddle on it. It’s a perfect bike to just play around on, especially now that the roads are all salted and nasty…

By the way, if anyone recognises the frame, Please comment because I’d love to know what it is.

Nope, they're horizontal (hard to see from the pics). And oddly enough it has a skewer in the back. I was worried about that at first, but then I went out and gave it hell for a while and it was fine so I'm leaving it alone. The ratio is 39-14, which is pretty much good for everything but the long downhills. Good luck with yours...

What's the ratio? I want to convert my C'dale to a fixie and this looks like it has vertical drops.
