Discipline

I was given a Fetish by a good friend. Thanks Rodney.
I stripped my full suspension frame down and built up the Discipline. It’s a big change from an old steel frame.
I got some Hope hubs and rotors and had Dan at the REI in Rockville, MD build them up with Syncros rims (also from Rodney).
The new wheels and tires took about two pounds off!

Update:
I’ve now switched to SRAM X9, My buddy wanted to do a Shimano build so I’m doing SRAM. He hooked me up with a set of Hayes 9 XC but there’s a compatibility issue with the Hope rotors. We’re going to switch brakes, he has a set of Avid Juicy 7’s. This should help with the rotors.

I’ve also decided to totally pimp this bike. I have the RED frame with RED anodized hubs and the RED anodized rotors and a set of RED anodized bar end caps. My friend just found a set of RED carbon handle bars and RED anodized hydraulic fittings. I’m getting a set of the RED anodized brake boss plug/brake hose guide.

Update:
I couldn’t stand the SRAM set up, so I switched back.
It’s not that they didn’t work well, it’s that I couldn’t get used to the shifting. Rodney had the same issue. I’ve kept the Juicy 7’s and he’s got the Hayes 9’s.
I bent the rear rim on a pre-ride for a race this season so I’ll probably have Dan build a new set when I can scratch up the cash. It doesn’t affect the ride though.
I also got the new Shimano XT Shadow rear derailleur. Looks great and works great too. It eliminates the big loop on the back and about 1cm from the profile.
