About

7/4/07 took it out after having a tune up at the shop; the xtr dérailleur exploded off in a freak accident a few months ago and I attempted to put an xt derailleur back on in its place but couldn’t get the shifting straight. so the mechanic at liberty cycle, who i have to call tomorrow, told me that it’s due to the derailleur being long cage rather than mid or short. yesterday on the trail was so ridiculously frustrating because it kept slipping out of the last four gears of the cassette. I had wanted to take this bike to CT next weekend for the ‘bunch of guys riding on a saturday’ but it looks like I am going to be taking one of the other two mountain bike instead (no, not the klunker or the single speed). Damn frustrating though – mechanical failures are enough to make you reconsider the sport.

I wrote a blog about this bike’s history. It’s my dream bike and it carves up the trail exactly like a dream bike should. Wheelset is in the mail but I am going to update the specs as if they have arrived already anyway. The set I ahve been using is true and works fine but I hoping that there will be a significant difference between the existing and the new sets of wheels. I ordered a Selle Italia Flite saddle, it’s really simple and very comfortable. I like this carbon frame a lot, actually that goes for the whole bike. I wan’t to add a Chris King Headset to replace the existing Cane Creek – the the Cane Creek headset is working just fine for now so it’s not the highest priority just yet, it’s more of a wish list item. Damn that list is long.

why don't you eric and zac - and clem even - drive to Jersey and meet up with Doug and Randy and I and we'll ride some jeep roads - two to three hours - no breaks or stopping - no eight guys watching one dude try to pull a trick or hopping - just unadulterated non-stop east coast classic masochistic kick your ass cross country singletrack, aka "jeep road"...or you guys could pussy out and stay in CT with what you are familiar with...can't judge a place called Gay City by its name right? So let's set this up and ride in NJ sometime before you and Cheryl put your flowers in you hair and fly off to the west coast.

great question...I am dying to know myself but don't have a scale. I'll probably know within the next few months; I'll get it weighed at the shop when I take it in.

I have two of these (one in black, one in red):

(It's the first one on the Seats page from Fetish's website)

If you're interested, Contact Eric. If you ask me, the price is right.

I like that idea a lot. Can you send me or post a picture of the one you were thinking of (I think they have three types) and I don't know how much they go for either...but it's a great idea, especially since that seat that is on it, the one that came with it, royally sucks.

A blue Fetish seat (one of the nice thin-profile Carbon ones) would look great.

My mouth is still wide open. You better be ripping the trail hardcore on that thing.
